Susan Weisengoff-Patt

Susan was born and raised in Southern California with my parents and 2 brothers and 1 sister.

My mom was a stay at home mom and cooked and baked every day, I have her to thank for my introduction to baking. She made all meals and desserts from scratch and we had dessert with dinner almost every night. I remember her amazing pie crusts in which she put amazing fillings like pumpkin, lemon meringue (from lemons in our yard), apples and my favorite blackberry (which we picked).

My passion began at an early age and mom signed me up for a cake decorating class when I was 13, I excelled in decorating and made my first wedding cake at 14 for a church friend.

After high school, I went to the local community college until my mom went to a college fair and saw the culinary colleges there. After months of research I decided to go to Baltimore’s culinary college (now known as Baltimore College). There I trained under master pastry chef Bandula and many other talented chefs and earned my AA degree.

I worked at Hyatt and a large catering company during college and continued on after getting my degree. Since then, I have worked in every area of baking and pastry as pastry chef, including grocery store bakery, hotel, catering, small local bakery, large volume university, and upscale fine dining restaurants.

My many experiences have been great for learning about my field and prepared me to now open my own business- Cake Art.

I have a passion for creating amazing and beautiful cakes, and specialize in wedding and creative specialty cakes including fondant and European buttercream.

I have also opened up a cupcake cafe in my bakery which is unique to this area and I offer 20 different flavors of gourmet cupcakes.

I am so happy to have the opportunity to live my dream and do what I love to do. I have my amazing mom and dad to thank, I couldn’t have done it with out them.
